Career Exploration
A goal without a plan is just a wish.
-Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Imagine this is your student at university...
This student can be your son or daughter.
Unfortunately, though, many university students will not be so well prepared. Some will drop out in the first year. Some will be academically dismissed. Many students will change programs and/or transfer schools. And most students will take 5 or 6 years to get a 4-year degree, paying extra tuition & living costs and delaying employment.
The majority of university students won’t quit or fail. But they may drift aimlessly, with no clear focus on why they’re there and what they hope to achieve, all the while wasting time and money.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
With a few sessions, students can get on track
and find their path and purpose.

I can also share my computer screen with you so we can all follow along with instruction and examples. It's pretty much like in-person, except you don't have to clean your house before I come over.
-
A detailed, personalized Pathways Profile to use for further planning. The Profile will include career suggestions, plus 2-3 university programs which can lead to those careers, plus a list of suggested extra-curricular and enrichment activities the student can participate in to help develop marketable skills and qualities for the potential careers. The student will have a clear idea of the pathway(s) he/she could pursue following the sessions.

Interview Preparation for High School and University Students
Ace the interview by preparing the right way!
$198.00
Whether it's an interview for a summer job or admission to an academic program, I help students communicate their skills and experience with confidence. If your student has landed an interview, don't blow this valuable opportunity by being unprepared. Or maybe your student doesn't have an interview yet, but they want help to prepare for when the time comes. I know some of the best ways for them to focus and prepare.
How it works:
1. The students send to me their resume and information about the upcoming interview (if they have one arranged already)
2. We meet to discuss strategy: go over their information and plan the best answers to some interview questions I've prepared to fit their situation, plus we discuss interview clothing, follow up after the interview, etc.
3. They do the "homework" I assign (practice answering the questions, etc.)
4. We meet again to do the final tweaks, and then we do some mock interviews to put the whole thing together into "real life" practice
Cost: two installments of $99.00 (one paid before we begin, and one before the final meeting). The information and skills they learn in this process will help them with all interviews in the future.
“I would like to thank Janet for everything she did to help me to overcome my shyness for a university interview I recently had. She worked with me to help me prepare for questions, and told me how to properly answer them. I went into the interview relaxed and ready. Thanks again, Janet!"
- Michelle, first-year university student
“Janet, your services were very helpful. You encouraged my daughter to think about the future, and to operationalize her ideas into actions through the tasks identified in your meetings.”
- Parent of first-year university student
